Pastors & Staff
From Pittsburgh, Jeff came to Minnesota to attend college. Upon graduation, he worked in the restaurant business where he met his wife, Randi, now a Spanish professor. Jeff received his Master of Divinity degree from Bethel Seminary and the Seminary Consortium for Urban Pastoral Education. He has been senior pastor since 1988. The Cowmeadow’s are blessed with three daughters. Jeff loves sports, movies, landscaping, travel, and time with folks around the table. He believes hospitality is the central call of scripture, and he and Randi are excited about launching The Prodigal Pub in the spirit of this ethic.
Associate Pastor of children, Youth & Families
A small town girl from Wisconsin, Amy and her husband Matt have called Minneapolis home for over 15 years. She’s a mom to teenagers, a cook, a traveler, and a school-junkie. Her favorite place to discuss theology might just be with 6-year-olds during small groups. Pastor Amy has served Calvary Kids’ Village (CKV) since 2010. Leading ministry to children, youth, and families offers the opportunity to work alongside a huge, dedicated group of volunteers invested in the faith development of Calvary’s young people. This village takes seriously the call to nurture a generation who love God and love others together.
Lcie was born in Crawford Mississippi and raised in Kankakee, Illinois. He graduated from Winona State University with a B.A. in Criminal Justice, and worked for 33 years with the Minnesota Department of Corrections, where he retired in 2016. He has always had a passion for music, and has served as music director for various congregations. He was ordained as a Baptist minister in 2009, and has three children and six grandchildren. He enjoys family, music, fishing, virtually all sports, and cooking; he loves having friends over to enjoy his backyard and his specialty, BBQ ribs.
Over the past decade Dean has worn many Calvary hats, and today is grateful to oversee facility, finance, human resources, communications and the Whittier Farmers Market. Dean strives to daily invest in our community by fostering diverse, authentic relationships rooted in collaboration and God’s grace. He also focuses on stewarding and sharing our historic space located in the center of the Whittier Neighborhood. He and his wife Becky enjoy vacations exploring National Parks with their two sons and relaxing (and working) seasonally at the Tautges Family Farm.
Pastor Kyle has served Calvary’s youth since 2018, but his connection to Calvary goes back to 2004. He is part of the tradition of Calvary where the youth are known, loved and encouraged to be part of the church. Working with invested volunteers, we create safe places where youth connect with each other and the church, while exploring and wrestling with their faith. Kyle and his wife Lindsey live in Hudson, Wisconsin where they stay busy with their four children. As a family, they like to play at parks, watch movies, play games, and cheer for the Green Bay Packers.
Chantel has been working at Calvary with our littlest ones for over six years. She graduated from Bethel University in 2018 with a degree in education, and is currently teaching at Whittier Wildflowers Preschool, hosted in our building. She adores kids, and often jokes that she doesn’t know how to talk to adults, only little ones. Chantel has been going to Calvary for as long as she can remember, and many in the congregation remember her as a little one herself. She loves her hairless cat and she will always take a babysitting gig for a church family.
Emerging Adults Pastor
Since finding Calvary in 1995, Glenys has loved her church home and appreciates being with her community throughout each year. In 2008, she began 'hanging out' with the Jr/Sr High Youth Group on Wednesday nights which she currently still does. She is excited to lead the Emerging Adults while they have fun and together explore ways to keep connecting in the Calvary community as they grow and mature. Glenys Loves Jesus, people, the outdoors, family & friends, her dog, road trips and especially her teenage son Tommy whom she is so grateful to be raising in the Calvary family.
John has been working at Calvary for over 7 years, and his favorite part of his job is having philosophical discussions with Pastor Jeff and the staff. He has amassed an impressive vacuum collection here at church and is an avid thrift shopper. He grew up in New York, and has called Minneapolis home for 40 years. His favorite part about being in the Calvary community is meeting the people who come in and out, sitting down over coffee and donuts and having long conversations about life. His favorite quote is, “you may not get all you pay for, but you will certainly pay for all you get.”
